Cardiac Catheterisation is an invasive procedure where a small tube is inserted through a patient’s arm or leg vessel and ‘threaded’ up to the heart and its blood vessels. Dye injected through the catheter can identify blockages and if needed, balloons and stents can be inserted via the catheter. This procedure requires a patient to attend our Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, and in some cases a laboratory in Sydney.
