‘Echo’ is a technique that uses sound waves to create images of the heart. These images allow A/Professor Alford to assess the valves of the heart, as well as the size and function of the chambers. This non-invasive test is performed by moving a transducer across the chest to produce images of the chambers and valves within the heart.

This test requires a patient to lie on their left side, and briefly on their back.
